Tracy Morgan Crash: Star Showing Signs of Improvement, Rep Says

Tracy Morgan's condition is slowly improving, according to his representative. The comedian and TV star was in a horrific six-car accident over the weekend and could have lost his leg, but doctors were able to prevent that loss.

"While Tracy remains in critical, but stable, condition, he continues to show signs of improvement," the statement from his rep told People. "His medical team remains optimistic that his recovery is progressing."

Morgan and several others were in his bus when it collided with a tractor-trailer on the New Jersey turnpike. James McNair was killed in the accident and was honored by friends and family in a moving funeral this week. Two other people, including Morgan's assistant, Jeffrey Millea, were seriously injured, but it was Morgan who seemingly was the most injured.

Truck driver Kevin Roper pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide and assault by auto. There are claims that he had not slept in 24 hours before the accident, possibly leading to the deadly incident. Roper turned himself into police after the accident and released on $500,000 bail. He has since been placed on administrative leave.

"The driver of the tractor-trailer failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead," Sgt. Gregory Williams told CNN. "At the last minute, he swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo bus but struck it from behind, forcing the limo to rotate and overturn."

Morgan is still in the intensive care unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick and it is unknown how long he will have to remain there. Once surgeries are complete, he will have extensive physical therapy. His fiancé, Megan Wollover is staying by his side as he continues to heal.

"Megan remains by his side and is relaying the countless good wishes and prayers that his family, friends, and fans have been sending their way," the rep said. "In addition, Jeff's wife asked us to pass along that Jeff has also shown much improvement over the past few days. She is very thankful for the love and support she and their family continue to receive."
