Tuna Capsized Boat: 230 lb Tuna Drags Fisherman Into Sea in Hawaii (VIDEO)
A tuna has capsized a boat in Hawaii following an epic and dramatic battle between a 54 year old fisherman and the 230 lb fish.
Fisherman Anthony Wichman was reportedly fishing off the coast of Kauai over the weekend when he caught the large tuna fish. However, the tuna proved to be too much for Wichman to handle and it ended up capsizing his boat and dragging him into the sea.
Wichman was fishing in a 14 foot long boat at the time when he caught the big tuna. After a massive battle he almost managed to get the tuna on board, but after sticking the tuna with a gaffe the fish managed to jump back into the sea. The large weight of the fish then dragged Wichman over with him, and capsized the fisherman's boat too.
Wichman's daughter has spoken about the incident, and has described how the line wrapped around her father's leg as the tuna went back over, and the weight pulled him out to sea.
Daughter, Anuhea Wichman has told CNN: "He gaffed it once in the back, and the second gaffe went straight into the fish's eye and that caused the fish to take a final dive. And he dove straight down, and the line wrapped around my dad's ankle and pulled him overboard."
Wichman was able to phone his daughter from the water, and she then alerted the Coast Guard. They then used his GPS signal to track his location down and he was soon rescued from the water.
The fisherman is said to have suffered a rope burn from the incident, as well as a few bruises, but on the whole he was lucky to escape without any serious injuries.
Amazingly he still managed to catch the large tuna fish. Later when his friends went back to recover his capsized boat they found the tuna still hooked to the line, and they were able to reel it in together.
