New HTC Phones 2015: Butterfly 3 Coming to Japan Carrier KDDI?
The HTC One M9 is truly one heck of a device, and it is the manufacturer's most powerful smartphone to date.
However, the Taiwanese phone maker is working on other projects as well, such as the rumored One M9 Plus that is slated for a release a few weeks from now.
In a new report by Phone Arena, a new successor of the Butterfly lineup is allegedly under development.
Rumored as the HTC Butterfly 3, the Android-powered smartphone is expected to hit KDDI in Japan in the next quarter, which begins next month.
Considering the recent history of the Butterfly lineup, it is rumored to get better specs than the One M9 itself.
Some alleged specs include a 5.2-inch display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 810 chipset or a MediaTek variant, and a 32GB built-in memory.
The device is expected to run on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, has a microSD card slot, and ample battery to power the entire smartphone.
While there are still no leaks about the camera department, the Butterfy lineup has a rich history of outperforming its flagship counterparts.
Last year, the Butterfly 2 launched with a 13MP camera at the back, beating the One M8 that only had 4MP UltraPixels of resolution.
With that it would not be surprising if the Butterfly 3 would get a 20.7MP shooter at the back, plus a secondary sensor similar to the one that came up the HTC One M8 last year.
In the report, the HTC Butterfly 3 is rumored to support VoLTE, and arrive in several colors such as white, blue and red.
