Van Susteren FOX: "I Am Not Going Anywhere" Says Anchor Despite CNN Talks
Following Fox News channel's announced that Megyn Kelly has been extended a prime time position, rumors have surfaced about Greta Van Susteran handing over job.
Susteran first rose to prominence during the 1990's while working as a legal analyst for CNN. She left that position in 2002 and moved to the Fox News Channel network where she currently hosts "On the Record." But following an announcement earlier this week that Megan Kelly had been extended a position in primetime, rumors surfaced that Susteran could be leaving the network.
"Megyn is an exceptional talent who has successfully filled and surpassed each role we have given her at the network," Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement after the announcement was made. "Her ability to command the screen, delve into the facts and lead a debate is what makes her one of the most sought-after anchors in the business."
Susteran, 59, has denied all rumors that she is leaving the network. She confirmed her long-term contract with Fox on Tuesday, blogging live from the Zimmerman trial.
"I am very busy here in Florida so let me just quickly blog this: I am not going anywhere. I have a long-term contract with Fox and it is for a show in 'prime time.' Done, ok?" she wrote.
Rumors have persisted however after it was revealed that Susteran paid a visit to CNN to negotiate a "possible return." Susteran failed to address the CNN rumors even after the New York Times reported on Tuesday that a CNN executive had confirmed Susteran was in meetings for a position with the network.
Susteran currently holds the 10 pm spot on Fox nightly. Fox News Channel's top two shows are "The O'Reilly Factor" at 8pm and "Hannity" at 9pm. Prime time hours extend from 8-11 pm.
