Vivo X20 UD Specs, Release Date: First Handset With In-Display Fingerprint Sensor Named, Hits TENAA
Details about the Vivo handset with the first in-display fingerprint sensor have come to light.
Fans will remember that during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the Chinese company showcased the technology by Synaptics on an unnamed device.
They did say that the in-display fingerprint sensor-toting handset will be ready to hit the market early 2018, and it looks like Vivo is on track with the plan.
A device called the Vivo X20 UD has popped by the Chinese certification agency TENAA. If the name is familiar, this is because the company released a handset called Vivo X20 Plus.
Images on its listing show that the "UD" version of the handset will be pretty much the same in specs and features, except of course the placement of the fingerprint sensor.
The one on the Vivo X20 Plus is on the right hand side while the Vivo X20 UD is debuting the in-display fingerprint sensor, which allows users to unlock their handset by pressing a designated area on the screen.
As for the rest of the specs, the TENAA listing reveals the handset's 6.43-inch Full high- definition (HD) display. It will be an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panel to make the in-display fingerprint scanner work because LCD won't do the job.
The Vivo X20 UD, like the Vivo X20 Plus, will also be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 128 GB of internal storage.
In the imaging department, the handset will feature a dual camera setup composed of a 12-megapixel rear-facing snapper with f/1.8 aperture and a 5 MP module. On the front is another 12 MP sensor with f/2.0 lens. Keeping the lights on is a 3,800 mAh battery.
There is no word yet on when the Vivo X20 UD will see the light of day, but considering the company's early 2018 promise and a visit to TENAA, which is usually one of the final steps before a new mobile device is released in China, it won't be long before users will get to see the in-display fingerprint sensor in action in a smartphone.
