The Chicago Bears are playing Sunday football at home against the Washington Redskins, and if there's any indication how this would turn out for each team's last season push, that would be the fact that the Redskins haven't produced a win on the road. The Washington are in really serious trouble because they will have to grind it out and finally hope to get a win on the road, where they will play three of their last four games.
Both teams are sporting 5-7 records in the NFC, with one of them going to grab first place and the other one who has little to none of a chance to get to the wildcard round. Both of them also are coming off defeats this week, with the Bears blowing their best chance of moving forward after losing to San Francisco.
There have been several changes in both teams since the last time they met. For Washington, they still had Donovan McNabb as the starting quarterback, with Chris Cooley as the primary receiver. The Chicago Bears haven't been that good after that, losing five games against the same team.
Washington need to step it up on defense should they want to win this one. They've allowed 23.8 points every game, which currently puts them 16th in the league. For pass rush, they're 26th in the league, something that should be addressed sooner than later.
For the Bears, Jay Cutler will be in for a tough game because several of his pass catchers won't even be playing in this one, including Marquess Wilson, Martellus Bennett, and perhaps even Eddie Royal. He'll need to settle with the likes of Alshon Jeffery and Zach Miller for playmaking.
This Week 14 encounter for both teams under .500 is a crucial one, even if they're not really thinking about going deeper into this season. A strong performance to end this year can give some positive effect come next season.
