While Religious Protest Rages Against 'Christian Rock', Musician Teaches Audience the Best Way to Respond (VIDEO)
Since the advent of rock and roll in the 1950s, some fundamentalist Christians have condemned the sound as "the devil's music." Although "Christian rock" is now part of churches across the country, some believers continue to fight this culture clash.
San Diego-based rock band Switchfoot is respected for writing songs beloved by fans of all faiths while remaining outspoken about their Christian beliefs. However, at their March 10 show at the Varsity Theater in Baton Rouge, La., religious protesters set up to preach against any type of "Christian rock & roll."

The mood at the show was tense as the protest raged outside. And then lead singer Jon Foreman took a break to tell the audience the best way to handle a confrontation with the protesters.
