George R.R. Martin's Other Projects May Cause Further Delay in 'Winds of Winter'

It looks like the highly anticipated release of George R.R. Martin's novel "The Winds of Winter" might be delayed further due to the author's other projects.

Not only has the author admitted in the past that he's still struggling with writing the sixth installment in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series, he is also busy with the launching of a foundation and a possible HBO project among other responsibilities, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Martin recently wrote a post on his website, Not A Blog, detailing how March 2017 has been "madness" for him.

The author recently launched the Stagecoach Foundation, a nonprofit organization and production facility located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which is dedicated to bringing more film and television productions to his hometown.

Albuquerque Journal reports that Martin received a 30,000-square-foot building as a donation for his project, and the production facility will be working with emerging filmmakers as well as established Hollywood production companies. The presence of the studio will reportedly help boost New Mexico's economy since it increases the chances of attracting more productions to the city.

Martin also revealed that he is currently in talks with HBO about something that he "cannot talk about yet" but there's a possibility that it could be a new TV show.

A TV series for the superhero series "Wild Cards" is also being developed by Universal Cable Productions, though Martin will not be involved with the production given his exclusivity contract with HBO.

Despite his busy schedule and other ongoing projects, Martin maintains that "Winds of Winter" is "always, always" among the tasks he is working very hard to complete.

"So much to do. And the days go by so quickly. I love my work, all my work, all my projects, all my children, but sometimes it seems as if the harder I work, the further behind I get," the author wrote. "Maybe things will calm down soon. But I am not holding my breath."
