'Winds of Winter' Release Date Unknown, Fans Speculate on Possible Character Deaths

"Winds of Winter" is the next installment to George R.R. Martin's highly popular "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series more popularly know as "Game of Thrones." While there are still no solid dates for when the next book is coming out, fans are already speculating as to who will die.

The book series is notorious for constantly killing off main characters – among other things. The author is also notorious for one other thing, which attributes to the unknown release date of the next book – his slow writing pace.

Martin is reportedly writing at a pace of 250 words per day and is adamant at keeping with his pace. J.K. Rowling of the "Harry Potter" book series was reportedly writing at a pace of 350 words.

As for the speculations, currently fans think that all of the remaining Stark children will live. Other favorites such as Tryion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, and Stannis Baratheon are predicted to survive the next book. The fate of Jon Snow is still unknown after being attacked in his last appearance.

Many fans believe that Cersei Lannister will die in the next book. There are speculations that after her walk of atonement and consequent diminishing of her power, the character contributes little to the ongoing plot of the series.

Fans also speculated that Victarion Greyjoy will die in the next book. He was last seen in Meereen after being unsuccessful in his attempt to take his brother's place in Kingsmoot.
