Woman Lost Bike 42 Years, Reunited With 'Long Lost Friend' (VIDEO)
Lisa Brown has been reunited with a "long lost friend" after 42 years thanks to her wife. It's a sweet reunion for Brown, who never expected to see the bike again after such a long time.
"I was like, 'Wow! That's my bike!' I could tell immediately that that was my bike," Brown told CapeCodOnline. The bike, now well-rusted and in woods, was found when Brown's wife Deidre was out on a walk near where Brown fell off a bridge in 1970.
Deidre immediately returned home to report the finding to Brown, who rejoiced upon recognizing the banana seat. Incredibly the seat was still in-tact after all this time, and had survived being dragged by the river and washing ashore. It ended up being caught and tangled up in the trees.

Brown compared the discovery to "finding a long lost friend." After all, she was only 11 when she and the bike fell from a bridge over a local river. Now Brown plans to bring her "friend" home and display the bike in a type of art installation.
In 2010, another delighted owner, David Mitchell, was reunited with his senior class ring after 37 years. He lost the ring after it slipped off his finger in 1974.
Mitchell gave up all hope of finding the ring until he received an email from someone in Illinois. "My dad found a high school ring," the email read. "The stone is red, dated 1970, Shelby High School, Fighting Coyotes, and on the inside is engraved (with) the initials DM."
Shelley Warner was the mysterious owner of the ring, which her father had found 25 years earlier. She began to search in earnest for its owner, finally tracking down the school Mitchell belonged to. Warner even went so far as to register on the school's alumni page "as part of the class of 1970," Mitchell explained.
"When I registered there, she e-mailed me," he told the Daily InterLake. After exchanging several emails, Warner sent Mitchell a picture of the ring. It was "amazing, absolutely amazing - from something that I almost blew off as an impossibility to what I am seeing now, almost leaves me speechless."
"I am having a hard time finding the words to write this," he emailed. "I am convinced that it is the same ring that somehow slipped from my finger 37 years ago."
Warner sent the ring back to Mitchell, who now intends to pass it down to his own family members, along with the amazing story of its travels.
