'Wonder Woman 2' Rumors: Sequel to be Connected to 'Justice League'
While the recent trailer of "Justice League" released last Oct. 8 does not come with any spoilers, it has given rise to speculations that it will be connected in one way or another to "Wonder Woman 2."
It is already a known fact that Bruce Wayne/Batman (Ben Affleck) and Diana/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) will work together in forming a team of metahumans (to be known as the Justice League later on) to defend the earth from Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds) and his parademons, but all the trailers for the movie, including the one released recently, have not offered a clear idea on how its story will pan out.
However, the recently released trailer for "Justice League" has some fans suspecting that it will be connected to the already announced "Wonder Woman 2." Speculations on this being the case stemmed from the sightings of ruins of Chernobyl in the latest trailer for "Justice League," showing some iconic structures in the now abandoned city of the former Soviet Union, including the Ferris wheel shown on a monitor in the Batcave, and a nuclear silo where a swarm of parademons is seen coming out.
To recall, it was already announced earlier that "Wonder Woman 2" would be set in the '80s and take place during the Cold War between America and the then Soviet Union. Although it is still unclear what Wonder Woman's participation in the said historic disaster will be, it is suspected that the story will involve conspiracy for bigger plans to Chernobyl that Wonder Woman has to prevent but fails to, hence, the disaster happened.
As to why Steppenwolf and his parademons are supposedly drawn into Chernobyl in "Justice League," it is speculated that he may be utilizing the radiation in the place for specific purposes. While it is possible that the radiation may be helping Apokoliptans rejuvenate, it may simply be a case of using the abandoned city as a hideout.
While the theories above are nothing short of exciting, they are just nothing more than rumors as of this writing. For one thing, it is not even confirmed if "Justice League" is, indeed, having its own version of Chernobyl in its story. However, with the movie hitting the theaters this Nov. 17, it is just a matter of weeks before it can be confirmed.
In the event that "Justice League" really features its own version of Chernobyl, will it have any connection to "Wonder Woman 2"? Fans can only speculate for now.
"Wonder Woman 2" is slated to hit the theaters in December 2019.
