World Vision, WFP Partner for $13 Million Food Distribution
For the next ten months, World Vision Uganda will distribute food to internally-displaced people in the Pader District of northern Uganda .
Starting this month, one of the largest Christian relief and development organizations in the world will distribute food to internally-displaced people in the district of Uganda hit the hardest by a 19-year-old conflict.
In partnership with the World Food Program (WFP), World Vision Uganda will be distributing emergency food for the next ten months in the Pader District of northern Uganda – an area that continues to suffer from the ongoing conflict between the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and the Ugandan government.
“The needs in Pader district are so overwhelming,” said World Vision Uganda National Director Luther Bois Anukur. “The people there survive by God’s grace. It is the poorest district of Uganda and we need to help them more. I hope our presence there will transform the broken lives of these people. We also need to pray more for this war to end.”

According to World Vision, WFP will provide $13 million dollars worth of food for the project. Meanwhile, World Vision offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, Austria, Japan, News Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States will fund the entire program, including staffing, at a cost of around $15 million.
“It should not come as a surprise that out of all the NGOs operating in the northern Uganda, we picked World Vision,” said WFP Deputy Country Director Kallon Eddie. “The organization has a history of long standing accountability in working with the poor and marginalized.”
The WFP director commended World Vision for the hard work and commitment to the suffering people.
Under the agreement signed between World Vision and the WFP in April, the emergency food distributions in Pader will last for ten months.
