WWE 2016 News and Rumors: Triple H Returns at Clash of Champions; Possible Feud with Seth Rollins?

Triple H had been a staple heel superstar since he debuted in the WWE. He looks to enjoy being the bad guy, playing the role even until now in the most colorful of stories.

The superstar had been dominating the WWE in another way. He is reportedly in control of a huge chunk of WWE programming, especially with Vince McMahon down with injury. Given this, he can be lauded for a lot of good spots in the WWE lately—and a lot of the flops.

That said, Triple H is involving himself in a new angle, putting himself in the championship scene, albeit in a different way. A feud between Seth Rollins and Hunter is in the works, and it looks to be unravelling into a larger story.

Triple H vs Seth Rollins

The WWE had been a rollercoaster ride the past month. After the 2016 Brand Split, Raw and SmackDown competed against each other, trying to top each show and pay-per-view. The blue brand definitely impressed with Backlash, crowning AJ Styles WWE Champion amid a pretty loaded match card.

Raw had its own ups in the process. They started with a big Fatal 4-Way match for the vacated Universal Championship, pitting against each other Big Cass, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens. The match turned out to be reminiscent of the Attitude Era, ending in a controversial finish.

Triple H returned to double-cross both Reigns and Rollins, handing Owens the belt. Owens looked genuinely shock, and so did Rollins, who was supported by the authority for most of his career.

Now the Rollins vs. Hunter feud is very possible, with fans and pundits speculating it will begin at Clash of Champions. Hunter, however, never showed up in the main event—Chris Jericho instead helped Owens take the win. Rumor has it that WWE would want to wait out the Raw ratings slump before transitioning Triple H back to programming, from which he had been absent since WrestleMania 32.

Surprise return

Hunter did return, but already at the end of Clash. After Stephanie congratulated Owens on his title defense, she was shown heading to a car to meet her husband, Triple H, with both smiling in the footage.

Once Triple H returns to programming, he could spark a feud with Rollins, who did say he wanted to burn down the Authority. He could also resume his feud with Roman Reigns, who defeated him for the WWE belt at the last 'Mania.
