WWE 2016 Rumors: Sasha Banks vs. Bayley Feud Brewing? NXT Rivalry Rumored to Resume on Raw
The New Era is upon the WWE and the signs are hard to ignore. The veterans of the game—Chris Jericho, John Cena and The Rock—are catapulting the younger players into stardom in loaded rosters.
Without a doubt, one of the best things WWE had done in the dawn of this era is the Divas Revolution. Women in WWE history had always been overshadowed by the men.
There were legitimate women wrestlers in the profession, but few landed the main event. Trish Stratus, Chyna and Lita tried to cement themselves as more than just managers and love interests, but their rise to that level was constantly stifled by the company.
The Revolution changed the scene of the Women's Division, ridding it of the fancy butterfly belt to give way for the returning Women's Championship. In fact, the tremendous potential of this movement and its stars looks to have captivated WWE Creative and executives enough to consider a women's main event soon.
The Boss vs The Hugger
Last Monday on Raw, Charlotte and Dana Brooke's plans backfired as they got a new match scenario they did not want. Brooke was contesting the result of a controversial match for the No.1 contender, when commissioner Mick Foley chose to insert Bayley into her title defense at Clash of Champions.
Sasha Banks was originally the sole opponent Charlotte must defeat to retain the Women's title. Instead, she now faces two of the WWE Universe's favorite women. However, this looks to be setting up a new feud, one between Banks and Bayley.
Should a new champion be crowned tonight or not, chances are Bayley and Banks are bound to contend for the coveted belt. This rouses a revival of the historic animosity between the two, prior to being part of the main WWE roster.
Women's PPV
The rivalry between The Boss and The Hugger had already taken place in NXT. Bayley eventually got the better of The Boss, becoming the NXT Women's Champion in a clean, emotional finish. That match at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn was named Match of the Year in 2015.
The match drew so much love from the crowd that WWE had originally planned to top it with another encounter at WrestleMania 33; but the WWE Universe might get an earlier treat. Rumor has it that WWE Creative are planning to book a Banks vs. Bayley main event in an upcoming Raw-exclusive pay-per-view.
