WWE 2016 Rumors: Sting vs The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33? WCW Legend Holds Off Surgery for One More Match

WrestleMania is WWE's flagship event and the need for ticket sales constantly pushes them to book the biggest matches and cameos they can muster. Over the last years, Daniel Bryan won two straight matches to win the world title, Seth Rollins cashed in Money in the Bank for the same belt, and Roman Reigns defeated Triple H to defend it.

The past WrestleManias also saw surprising returns from the company's biggest superstars: The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin. In fact, this year, one legend is looking to come back to battle another on the grandest stage of them all.

Sting had been the stuff of legends during his time in sports entertainment. He spent his prime on WCW, prowling the grounds where Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and Goldberg once walked.

A few years ago, the 57-year-old veteran made a huge return, this time on WWE. He battled The Authority in the process, going up against Triple H and Seth Rollins. Last year, he had a match with Rollins at Night of Champions, but sustained a neck injury from it and was forced to retire from wrestling.

This year, however, Sting is making a buzz once again—this time, chasing The Undertaker. He told JBL on WWE Network that he was holding off his neck surgery, in hopes of hanging his hat in the most prestigious event in sports entertainment against The Phenom himself.

Fans would love to see a match between the two greatest superstars in pro-wrestling history and they might even be in store for more. Rumor has it that Sting, The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg, whose return is being teased over the past few months, may be gathering for a Fatal 4-Way at WrestleMania 33.

Star-studded event

Sting vs. The Undertaker—vs. Lesnar vs. Goldberg—is not the only big match that could happen in April's WrestleMania. Vince McMahon's favorites, John Cena and Roman Reigns, could face off for Cena to finally pass the torch to Reigns.

Furthermore, AJ Styles and Finn Balor, who both spent time with the Bullet Club on New Japan Pro Wrestling, may also cross paths. Seth Rollins vs. Triple H is also a huge possibility as the latter betrayed The Architect to hand Kevin Owens the Universal Championship on Raw.

One way or another, The Beast Incarnate Lesnar will find his way to the match card. He could face Kevin Owens for the Universal title or have a SummerSlam 2002 rematch with The Rock.
