WWE Latest News: Chris Jericho Returns To RAW; Royal Rumble 2016 Updates
Former World Wrestling Entertainment world heavyweight champion Chris Jericho has returned to Monday Night RAW.
In a report by Cageside Seats, the former World Championship Wrestling (WCW) standout made his appearance during the show's January 4th episode. In the said show, Jericho angered the New Day when he declared that the company's show ratings and numbers were down, and that the WWE needed a "shot in the arm, Y2J style."
Jericho also announced that he would be part of the Royal Rumble event on January 24th at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
In an Instagram post he made after the recent RAW episode, Jericho also thanked the fans, where he promised everyone a "wild ride."
"'Rooty, Tooty, Booty!' Had a blast last night....fooled you all again! Thanks to a great crowd in San Antonio & look out @wwe universe-it's gonna be a WILD RIDE!! #trapqueens #Y2JForever," the caption of his post reads.
Chris Jericho's last appearance was on October 3rd of the past year, where he lost his WWE Intercontinental title shot against champion Kevin Owens at WWE Live, which took place at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The same Cageside Seats reports states that the said match also marked Jericho's 25th anniversary as a professional wrestler.
Meanwhile, more updates on the upcoming Royal Rumble event have been released.
In another report by Gene Mrosko for Cageside Seats, the WWE has released some of the event's participants. So far, here are some of the names that have been confirmed: Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, Luke Harper, Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, Big Show, and Curtis Axel.
In another report by Sean Rueter for the same publication, the WWE has announced that for the first time in company history, the World Heavyweight title would be defended on the same Royal Rumble event.
Champion Roman Reigns will need to defend his title against 29 other men through the traditional over-the-top rope elimination format that the Rumble has been known for.
