WWE Latest News: Company To Hold Live Network Special In Toronto, Batista Claims Vince McMahon Thought He Would Make WWE Return For Money
World Wrestling Entertainment recently announced a live network special, which will air in Toronto on March 16th.
In a report by Gene Mrosko of Cageside Seats, the show will be entitled "March to WrestleMania", which is slated to be held at the Ricoh Coliseum.
The report adds that tickets will begin to go on sale on January 7th, and that no official list of talents that will be appearing on the show have been revealed.
WrestleMania 32, the company's annual blockbuster event, will be held on April 9th at the AT&T Stadium, more popularly known as the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. In late December, it has been confirmed that long-time marquee superstar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be appearing on the said event.
Meanwhile, WWE head honcho Vince McMahon apparently thought that former heavyweight champion Batista would always stick around and be one of the company's top talents. In 2010, Batista (Dave Bautista in real life) left the WWE, citing that he did not like the direction the company was headed to.
While putting his professional wrestling career on hold, he then went on to pursue an acting career. Batista appeared in films such as "The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption", "Riddick", and "Guardians of The Galaxy."
He also fought in his first mixed martial arts fight in October 2012 against Vince Lucero in Rhode Island, where he won by first round TKO.
While the Filipino-American professional wrestler did return in 2014, McMahon was said to be surprised by Batista's move of leaving the company.
In his appearance on Sam Roberts' Wrestling Podcast (through a report by Wrestling Inc), Batista's friend and fellow wrestler Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) told the story of how the veteran pro-wrestler had the conversation with McMahon right before he left.
"With [Batista's] movie career, I remember the day he left and it was crazy because Muriel, the security guard, she walked him out and he was telling me, he goes, 'Vince doesn't think I'm leaving. He thinks I'm bulls--tting him. He doesn't think I'm serious.'"
Upon his return, Batista also declared that he is no longer interested in doing televised shows.
