WWE Latest News: John Cena Injured, Surgery Required; WWE Injured List Revealed
Former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar and actor John Cena has been injured.
In a report by PW Insider (through Cageside Seats), Cena sustained a shoulder injury, which required surgery. The report adds that the professional wrestler underwent the procedure on Thursday, on a possible torn rotator cuff. WWE has also confirmed the news.
Because of this, Cena will likely miss the WWE's annual blockbuster show, WrestleMania, which will be on its 32nd edition this year. The event is scheduled to take place on April 3 at the AT&T Stadium, more popularly known as the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
In another report by Bill Pritchard for WrestleZone, the recovery time for Cena's injury is believed to be six months, but a more specific timetable will be available once he begins rehab. According to a report by Sean Rueter for Cageside Seats, WWE heavyweight champion Roman Reigns is slated to replace Cena's scheduled appearances in New Delhi, India on January 15 and 16.
Along with him are other superstars such as the Big Show, Kane, The New Day, Ryback, Dolph Ziggler, and Tyler Breeze, just to name a few.
With the recent turn of events, Cena now joins the injured list of superstars for the past year.
Another Cageside Seats report noted how every champion from last year's WrestleMania 31 event is now on the WWE's injured list. One of the notable names is that of Randy Orton, who is currently dealing with a shoulder and neck injury and has not yet determined his comeback timetable.
Cena's training partner, Cesaro, is also on the list, also due to a shoulder injury and is also unsure about when his return would be.
Former world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins is also one of the more prominent names on the list. Rollins injured his knee in a house show match with Kane, where he was forced to drop his title. After deeming his surgery a success, he is now undergoing rehab.
WWE Diva Nikki Bella is currently on rehab for a neck injury, with her return also uncertain.
