WWE Latest News: John Cena Undergoes Surgery; Superstar Randy Orton Says He Does Not Need Neck Surgery

World Wrestling Entertainment superstar and former champion John Cena has successfully undergone shoulder surgery.

In a report by WWE.com, Dr. Jeffrey Dugas of the Andrew Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama, confirmed that there was positive feedback regarding the procedure on the rotator cuff of Cena's right shoulder.

"He had a complete tear of a small portion of the rear rotator cuff tendon, the infraspinatus — toward the top-back of his shoulder — which I repaired," the doctor explains. He adds, "Also, there was a large piece of loose tissue in his shoulder that needed to be removed."

The report details that the entire procedure only took "about one hour" to be completed, where Dr. Dugas also identified that there was some deterioration taking place on Cena's AC joint. Dr. Dugas also noted that the main concern now for Cena is to have the cuts heal. It is also important that they get some cartilage to cover the said defect.

The 38-year-old professional wrestler confirmed the injury on Wednesday night, which he immediately had opted to go under the knife for.

Given the situation and his requirements for rehab, Cena will likely miss the WWE's annual blockbuster spectacle WrestleMania 32. The said event is slated to take place on April 3rd at the AT&T Stadium, more popularly known as the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Meanwhile, Randy Orton, another wrestler on the injured list, says he does not need to undergo surgery for his neck issue, refuting previous reports that claim otherwise.

Orton, who just underwent shoulder surgery, gave his own injury updates through Instagram, which was then reported by Geno Mrosko for Cageside Seats.

Firstly, the 35-year-old professional wrestler gave updates on his shoulder condition, noting, "things are ahead of schedule" and expressed his excitement about getting back to work. He then debunked the reports about the need for a neck surgery, reminding fans that the most credible source for information would still be WWE.com.
