WWE News and Updates 2016: Why Roman Reigns Should Stay Out of Seth Rollins vs KO; PPV Match Prediction, TV Schedule

The Guy ruins the perfect angle.

Let's face it—the WWE Universe hates Roman Reigns. The superstar who descended from one of the greatest Samoan wrestling families (kin to Rikishi, Peter Maivia and The Rock) did not live up to his name as far as the fans are concerned.

The problem is that the higher-ups keep shoving Reigns down the audience's throats, even though he seemingly did not earn it by pro-wrestling standards. Now, it looks like he would be given another opportunity he did not earn - a chance at a triple-threat match for the WWE Universal Championship.

That is, if he beats Kevin Owens on the next Monday Night Raw.

Heel Switch

On the August 29 episode of Raw, Kevin Owens defeated Cass, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a Fatal 4-Way match to win the vacated WWE Universal Championship in a shocking fashion. Triple H returned to land a Pedigree on Reigns, helping Rollins eliminate "The Guy". Just when Rollins thought he was winning, Triple H turned on him with another Pedigree, handing the belt to Owens.

The match finish made the impression that Owens will turn heel and Rollins will become the new "babyface". The fantasy unfolded on Raw last Monday when Owens berated the "idiot" crowd for stealing his moment.

A frustrated Rollins comes out, only to be suspended by Stephanie McMahon. However, General Manager Mick Foley decided to give him a rematch opportunity against KO at Clash of the Champions.

These events set up what could be a big break for the two young superstars. The Authority vs the former protégé is a tried and tested angle in the WWE, launching the likes of The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Daniel Bryan into fame.

Roman Invasion

Leave it the world's most hated wrestler to ruin the moment. Reigns is booked for a match against Owens next week on Raw and if he wins, he gets to battle Rollins and Owens for the title.

If he wins and makes it a triple-threat match at Clash of the Champions, then the Architect vs KO angle would be watered down. Hardcore WWE fans developed a habit of cheering for anyone who feuds against Reigns just because they reject the idea of him being the face of the company. If they cheer for Owens, the latter would not become the heel his storyline demands.

As for Rollins, it is time for him to get the cheers he deserves as the new "babyface". He had proven that he can execute the most brilliant moments in wrestling, notably being the first to cash-in his Money in the Bank opportunity at WrestleMania.

The WWE still has two options to save the feud, though. One, someone (i.e. Owens' pal Chris Jericho) costs Reigns the win next Monday and feuds with him until Clash of the Champions. Two, let him be losing end in a Rollins or Owens win at the PPV.

WWE Clash of the Champions will start with a kickoff show at 7 p.m. EST/4 p.m. PST on September 25. The main show airs 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST on the WWE Network and select cable providers.
