Xbox Backward Compatibility Program New Games: 'Far Cry 3' Added; Most Requested Game Coming Soon

Microsoft's Xbox Backward Compatibility Program has yet added several new games into its ever-expanding catalogue.

Through a tweet from a few days ago, Larry Hryb, also known as Major Nelson, announced that three new major games - "Darksiders," "Darksiders II," and "Assassin's Creed Revelations," - are now part of the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Program.

In addition, "Far Cry 3" was also confirmed to be part of the program just last Thursday, March 30. All newly added games are now part of the lineup, which also includes "Meet the Robinsons," "Street Fighter IV" and "Daytona USA" among others that were added in March.

They also join "Assassin's Creed Rogue," "Borderlands 2," "Battlefield 3," and "Mad Tracks" which were added into the program earlier this year.

Players who already own them in Xbox 360 will see the newly added games in their Xbox One library. For those who don't own any of the games yet, these can be bought through the Xbox Store.

In addition, Xbox chief Phil Spencer also dropped a hint through a tweet as to what upcoming game could join the Xbox One Backward Compatibility Program soon enough.

"One of my most anticipated is coming in the next few weeks, some good ones tee'd up," Spencer tweeted. This prompted speculations from enthusiasts that the new game might be one of the top 10 most requested titles to be included in the program, which is led by "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2."

The Xbox chief, however, did not provide any other details and says that he has "no comment on BO2 (Black Ops 2)," but possible contenders aside from "Black Ops 2" could either be "Skyrim," "GTA V," "Batman: Arkham City," and other games from the "Call of Duty" franchise.

Since Microsoft introduced the Xbox One Backward Compatibility Program back in 2015, it became a hit among Xbox console players because it allowed Xbox 360 titles to be playable in Xbox One devices.

Moreover, players only need to purchase a game once, and progress can be easily saved and continued using any Xbox device. There are over 300 games now listed under the program, and Microsoft promises that more games are going to be added each month.
