The Xbox One August 2016 update is finally here. On July 30, Microsoft started rolling out its Xbox Summer Update – the latest system update for Xbox One and the Xbox app that aims to give users an enhanced gaming experience.
According to Microsoft, almost all of the features that they promised earlier are already included in the July 30 update while some will be added in the coming days. The tech giant also stated that the Xbox Summer Update will be available on the highly anticipated Xbox One S that will be hitting stores starting August 2.
Here are the top five features that are part of the Xbox Summer Update:
1. Cortana
Microsoft's personal digital assistant will finally be made available on Xbox One thru the Xbox Summer Update. According to The Wall Street Journal, Cortana will be replacing the former Xbox voice commands. Gamers can use the voice-controlled digital assistant in answering queries, searching good games, setting up parties via headset or through Kinect, controlling media playback and finding out what other gamers are playing. Gamers will also have the option to disable the device.
2. Background Music
Another significant feature that comes along with the Xbox Summer Update is the capability to play music in the background. The Verge reports that users can now play, adjust and control music while gaming. Pandora will be the first to support the background music with iHeartRadio, Groove Music and other apps coming soon.
3. Language Region Independence
Xbox Summer Update will also enable the Language Region Independence, giving gamers the freedom to choose the language that they are more comfortable with. Gamers can now pick any Xbox One supported language, regardless of the location.
4. Enhanced Game Collection
The Game Collection interface will also be enhanced as soon as you get the Xbox Summer Update. Finding, launching, sorting and managing games will be more user-friendly and organized. Moreover, updating games and searching game information will be easier with the improved Game Collection interface.
5. Merged Xbox and Windows Stores
The convergence of Xbox and Windows Stores is another feature that will come along with Xbox Summer Update. This is intended to provide gamers a more convenient shopping experience. The Xbox One store will also be enhanced along with the update. Information, prices and reviews about games could be accessed easily and conveniently.
Xbox Summer Update is available for all consoles. Aside from the latest update, Microsoft will also be rolling out the free Windows 10 Anniversary Update for PCs on August 2.
