Xbox Project Scorpio News Updates: Phil Spencer Offers More Details About Upcoming Console
In a new video, Xbox boss Phil Spencer appeared to give waiting fans more details about the company's upcoming Xbox Project Scorpio console.
Slated for a Holiday release this year, the Xbox Project Scorpio is dubbed as a "premium console" as it is made with elite gamers in mind.
Spencer says that the upcoming console is for the person who buys the majority of games, and spends the most hours and dollars just to play such games. "It's like our Elite controller. I call that a premium controller," he explains.
As a premium console, Spencer is not ashamed to admit that the Xbox Project Scorpio would really come at a price, but he promised that the company will come up with a fair one, for its target market at least.
The Xbox boss is also expecting that sales for the Xbox Project Scorpio would be lesser compared to the projected sales of its Xbox One S. This is because the Xbox One S will be introduced at a lower price compared to the Project Scorpio.
Spencer also revealed that the "premium console" will have a "premium look," and it will likely be unveiled during Microsoft's Electronic Entertainment Expo briefing which is set for Sunday, June 11.
Xbox will also offer an Xbox Game Pass for $10 every month. This game pass will give subscribers access to a handful of games which will be updated monthly.
The Xbox boss revealed that this game pass subscription was planned and worked on for over two to three years - citing that they had to make sure that it meets technical specifics, plus they had to be able to sign in third-party game developers and publishers in a business deal.
In other news, Microsoft unveiled a Windows Virtual Reality headset during the Game Developers Conference on Wednesday, March 1.
The Windows VR device is specifically made to bring in mixed reality content for Xbox One consoles - including the upcoming Project Scorpio. The VR device will be released later this year.
