Xiaomi Mi4 Release Date: High-End Android Flagship Failing to Beat Expectations? Availability Outside China Still Limited
Announced last year, the Xiaomi Mi4 was considered then as among the top smartphones in the market, primarily due to its price tag and high-end specs.
Some of the phone's coveted specs include a 5-inch display with a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution screen, 3GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, and either a 16GB or 64GB of internal memory.
However, more than half a year after its release and it has not yet reached other markets aside from China and a couple more countries.
According to reports by GSM Arena, the Android-powered handset has been getting price cuts in Chinese retailers, which could mean that the manufacturer could be preparing its upcoming flagship.
However, the company has not yet fully exhausted the potential of its current Mi flagship.
Another factor that played a role in the slow growth of sales for the Xiaomi Mi4 is the announcement of phablets Mi Note Pro and Mi Note – both of which have already hit the home market.
In spite the not-so-impressive performance of the Mi4, the Chinese manufacturer has recently revealed that it still leads China as the top smartphone maker.
In a report by GSM Arena, Xiaomi has topped its homegrown competitors Lenovo and Huawei, as well as other foreign brands like Samsung and Apple in the massive Chinese market.
Reports are claiming that Xiaomi would unveil four new handsets before the year ends, but Android fans better take these details with a grain of salt first.
