Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Release Date News: U.S. Release Not Likely To Happen

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 2 is experiencing a very high volume of sales in China because of its exclusive flash sales strategy as well as its affordable tag price of 799 Yuan, according to a report in iDigital Times. As soon as the phone was released in the market in August, it recorded that 800,000 units were sold within hours of the release. However, the affordable phablet may never find its way to U.S. stores, according to the report, as the phones may remain to be exclusive to its home market. The company also sells the device on its website, with an international shipping option.

According to a review of the device in Android Pit, consumers in other markets outside China are missing out on a smartphone that has very good specs but an affordable tag price. The report even touted that it should be "the phone that everyone should have."

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 2 has a 2.0 GHz MediaTek Helio X10 chip paired with 2 GB of RAM. Internal storage is at 16 GB. A slightly higher-end version of the device, called Redmi Note 2 Prime has a 2.2 GHz chip and 2 GB of RAM but a bigger 32 GB internal storage. According to the Android Pit review, its processor is comparable to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 and it performed well with multitasking as well as in running games that are graphics-heavy.
