'Yooka-Laylee' Nintendo Switch Version Release Gets Delayed Further as Developers Encounter More Engine Issues
Nintendo Switch players would have to wait a little more before "Yooka-Laylee" arrives on the platform as developers cite engine issues as the cause of the delay.
Playtonic Games had recently made an update regarding the arrival of "Yooka-Laylee" to the Nintendo Switch, and unfortunately for players of the recently released platform, further engine troubles have complicated the release of the game.
Playtonic Games had previously encountered issues with the current Unity engine used for the game and ultimately decided that it was best to wait for the Unity 5.6 before they could fix these issues. The Unity 5.6 has, in fact, arrived, but sadly, Playtonic Games had encountered more issues for them to fix. With that being said, the company would first have to resolve these problems before they could submit the game to Nintendo and announce a definite timeline for release.
"We understand the frustration that it's taken so long to get the game in your hands but we hope that you understand that we're working as fast as we can and want the game to perform as well as it possibly can on Switch. Once these remaining issues are resolved we hope to finally be able to commit to and share a launch date. Thanks as ever for your patience and please bear with us – we are getting there!," Playtonic Games says in the update posted on Monday, Sept. 25.
However, Playtonic Games isn't the only company having trouble with the Unity engine. Developer Airship Syndicate also had to delay the release of their game "Battle Chasers: Nightwar" on the Switch as they too had encountered a number of issues with the engine.
"Yooka-Laylee" was first released in April on multiple platforms such as the Linux, MacOS, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Originally, it was planned for release on the Wii U, but it has been decided back in December 2016 the game will instead be coming to the Nintendo Switch.
