Dr. Jesse R. McGuire is an Emmy Award-winning trumpet player who's no stranger to the spotlight. At 15, he was an offered a lucrative spot to play with Grammy-winning soul singer Isaac Hayes (which he turned down). In college, he won a variety of honors, and he was later a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall. Dr. McGuire has performed for Presidents Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

At the weekend's San Francisco-Carolina NFL playoff game, Dr. McGuire stepped up to the mic and blasted a rendition of the "Star-Spangled Banner" with cool confidence. He takes the National Anthem to octaves that make your lips hurt just thinking about playing them. The virtuosic performance will give you chills.

To McGuire, the roar of a sold-out stadium pales in comparison to the real reason he plays.
