Youth for Christ to Hold National Convention

Youth for Christ (YFC) staff and board members nationwide will gather in Nashville in November for the 2005 YFC national convention, which will run during the National Youth Workers Convention (NYWC) presented by Youth Specialties.

"It’s a reunion! It’s family. I want all of us there," writes new National Director and President of YFC/USA, Dan Wolgemuth, in the August edition of INSTEP, YFC's national publication.

They will come "together to worship, share, dream, equip, renew, love, and believe," continued Wolgemuth, who We’ll leverage the Youth Specialties event to maximize the opportunity, but make no mistake... this is a family reunion, and I can’t wait!"

Youth Specialties also works with Youth for Christ on other occassions. Next year, the triennial DCLA youth conferences, which was originally presented by Youth for Christ, will be presented by Youth Specialties. The DCLA conferences, attracting 10-12 thousand students at each event, train teenagers to evangelize using YFC's 3Story curriculum, which entails sharing my story, you sharing your story to sharing God's story.

The national convention marks the second major YFC gathering for some staff members. In July, YFC held the International General Assembly 2005, July 1-5 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Representatives from 80 of the 150 nations where YFC has ministry and 70 US staff members attended the assembly.

YFC International President, David Wraight, reflected on the General Assembly by saying,“Praise God that He has given us a clear picture of His provision and grace. We reflected on what God has done for YFC over the recent years of renewal. The Lord has shown us His grace and mercy in so many ways. We were presented with all the resources that God has provided over the past year that will help us implement the Global Ministry Plan. As we looked at these many resources we were overwhelmed with thankfulness for the Lord’s miraculous provision. We do indeed serve the great Jehovah Jireh.”

The next YFC International General Assembly will be held September 21-29, 2007 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
