Youth Specialties Changes Focus Back to Youth Ministry Workers
Earlier this year, Youth Specialties announced its decision to stop its sponsoring role in the National Pastors Convention and the emergent YS Convention.
Youth Specialities will begin its second-half year of events focusing only on youth ministry workers after sponsoring its last National Pastors Convention earlier this year in May.
Youth Specialties will kick off its Fall 2005 season by holding its one-day training sessions, dubbed the CORE, for youth workers nationwide. Speakers will share with participants how to approach ministering to the "American Teenager" in the context of a changing culture and give them a plan they can follow.
The 2005 Fall CORE will be held in the 16 cities which had the most attendants during the CORE's spring run this year. Next year, around 104 cities are expected to host the event, according to a YS spokesman.
Youth minsitry workers who are able to commit more than a day can attend Youth Specialties' National Youth Workers Convention (NYWC) beginning on September 29. The five-day covention hosted in three cities this year will feature speakers such as Youth Specialties Mark Yaconelli and music artists such as Chris Tomlin Band, David Crowder Band, and Steven Curtis Chapman.
The NYWC is the longest-running youth workers convention and attracts thousands of youth workers every year.
Earlier this year, Youth Specialties announced its decision to stop its sponsoring role in the National Pastors Convention and the emergent YS Convention in order to return to its original focus of helping youth ministry workers. Youth Specialties' previous partners Zondervan ChurchSource, Leadership Journal, and InterVarsity Press will continue to sponsor the National Pastors Convention, which will be held in San Diego, Ca, from February 22-25, 2006.
