'Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS' Plot: Series Protagonist to Contend With Two Powerful Organizations?
With the new "Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS" anime series premiering in Japan soon, more information regarding the upcoming series' plot and characters have recently come to light.
According to ASCII (as translated by The YG Organization), the series protagonist, Yusaku, will be contending with two organizations.
Based on the plot synopsis for the upcoming series, SOL Technology Inc., possessing advanced network technology, constructed a virtual reality space called "LINK VRAINS." However, in this VR space, a mysterious group of hackers called "The Knights of Hanoi" have surfaced, and they hack the systems using Duels.
There is one Duelist that stands in the way of both organizations — the Playmaker — and his real identity is that of a high school student named Fujiki Yusaku. While he struggles to find out the truth of his past, Yusaku encounters a very mysterious artificial intelligence program that is sought after by both SOL Technology and The Knights of Hanoi.
It is at this point that the gears of fate start to turn. From the synopsis, it would seem that Yusaku will have to fight against SOL Technology and the Knights of Hanoi over the enigmatic AI program. However, it remains uncertain if only one or both organizations have truly evil intentions.
Yusaku is described as "cool-headed and clever." He is adept at reading his opponents and is also an intelligent hacker. His character will be voiced by Shouya Ishige, who had minor roles in other anime series such as "Seiren" and "Orange."
New character art for Yusaku has also been released, giving fans the chance to have a better look at the protagonist in the real world as well as within the Link VRAINS — which is the cyberspace Duel field of the forthcoming "Yu-Gi-Oh!" series.
In other news, the upcoming series will also include the Speed Duel format used in the video game "Duel Links."
"Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS" is scheduled to air in Japan sometime this May.
