ZTE Releases Axon Mini With Pressure-Sensitive Display
ZTE has added another smartphone to its flagship Axon series. The new phone dubbed the Axon Mini was unveiled this past weekend, according to a report in Gadgets 360. The device will be made available in selected territories in Asia and Europe but the company was mum on its exact market release date.
When the device was unveiled last July, the selling point it touted, according to another report in Tech Times, is its pressure-sensitive display, which is similar to the Force Touch technology found on the new iPhone. This will be the first ZTE phone to be equipped with such technology. Its touch screen can distinguish between light and heavy touches, which can be used to activate different phone functions and apps.
Design-wise, the phone is sleek and thin at 3.5 mm, with a body that is made of an aircraft-grade aluminum-titanium alloy. It has a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED screen which is Full HD and has a curved edge. Under the hood, it sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor, an Adreno 405 GPU and is paired with 3 GB of RAM. On-board storage is at 32 GB, but is expandable to 128 GB via a microSD card.
Its main rear camera is a 13 megapixel one with phase detection autofocus, while the secondary front camera is an 8 megapixel one. The phone has two microphones supported by a Hi-Fi audio chipset for high-fidelity sound.
Other features of the phone include a real-time voice translator which supports English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
Color variants include Ion Gold, Chromium Silver and Rose Gold. There is also going to be a Premium edition of the phone but ZTE has yet to reveal what additional features the Premium edition will have. The Premium Axon Mini will sell for $439, while the regular one will sell for only $379. The Rose Gold color variant has a special price of $399.
