5 Bible Verses To Read At Bedtime With Children
One of the qualities of children that make them so adorable is their innocence. Engage them in an interesting conversation and they will fix their gaze on you, catching every word that comes out of your mouth.
Because of their innocence, children are eager to learn new things provided that the presentation piques their interest. It is during this tender phase when it is best to awaken their spirituality by introducing them to God and teaching them to pray. The Bible is good material in training them to read.
The Scriptures carry tons of light passages that can be explained to kids easily. These verses can answer their basic questions about life and help them deal with their emotional needs. Children are very imaginative and can form their own ideas as influenced by the environment they live in.
One of the emotions they are discovering is fear which is manifested during darkness at night. You can help them control this fear by reading and explaining to them these following verses:
1. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you." (Jeremiah 1:5a)
Here it clearly states that God already knew your child long before he/she was conceived which makes him/her special.
2. "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." (Romans 8:16)
As His children, God will not allow harm to befall us including your kid.
3. "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)
Nothing is impossible with God which includes overcoming one's fear.
4. "For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him." (Psalm 34:7)
Your child has a special bodyguard in the person of an angel who will defend him/her from monsters.
"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe." (Psalm 4:8)
Your child can be assured of a peaceful rest under God's protection.
