$99 HP Touchpad Sale: Free Tablet Give Away of Sold Out Gadget

In Hewlett Packard’s most product promotion, the company is teaming up with Hollywood megastars to offer one of its remaining HP TouchPads for free.

The HP TouchPad tablet made waves this summer after the company slashed its price down to $99 and consumers went crazy over the price causing a sellout across the U.S. and Canada.

Now, with its new promotion, HP will not only be selling the tablets for cheap but will be giving 20 of its 32GB TouchPads away for free.

The free touchpad’s will be part of promotional contest for the new movie “Real Steel,” starring famous Australian actor Hugh Jackman. The movie is as futuristic film about robot boxing.

The promotion is called “HP Meets Real Steel in 2020” and on top of winning a free tablet, five of the 20 tablets will have Jackman’s signature on them.

People can enter the Sweepstakes simply by filling out a small form on HP’s Facebook page. Interested individuals must be 18 years of age or older and must reside in the United States.

The Sweepstakes will end on Oct. 21 at 11:59 p.m. and winners of the free TouchPad’s will be drawn on Oct. 26.

In addition to HP giving away free TouchPad’s, it appears as though the company will also put the TouchPad through another huge discount sale later this month. The company will run off 200,000 more TouchPads that will be sold at $99 for 16GB and $149 for 32GB.

HP says that it is putting out more tablets in order to meet “consumer demand,” however, it is unlikely that with only 200,000 extra TouchPad's that HP will be able to fulfill the entire demand that is left over on the market from this past summer.

In its initial days on the market, HP's tablet did poorly, however, once the company slashed the price to $99 the product became a national sensation.
