Acer Introduces Android Version of Liquid Jade Primo, To Run With Android Marshmallow
Acer is currently taking pre-orders for its Windows-10 powered Jade Primo smartphone in Europe. But while that is going on, the Taiwan-based company has revealed that they are working on an Android version of the said device According to GSM Arena, a new device with the codename Acer S58A was recently spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking site.
It said that the listing revealed the Android variant of the Jade Primo as it will be running with the latest operating system, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Tech Times also noted that the "A" on the name in Geekbench also could well stand for "Android" as the rest of the specifications of the device is the same with the Windows 10 variant.
But why should Acer work on a different variant of the device? According to Softpedia, the Windows 10 variant of the Jade Primo is more expensive than Microsoft's Lumia 950 XL, which is actually already deemed to be the most advanced Windows 10 Mobile handset that is currently for sale in the market. With that being said, Acer may have decided to create an Android version in order to contend better with its competitors. It's also said that the new version serves as a backup plan in case the Windows 10 model fails.

Android Headlines reported that the Android-powered Jade Primo is not confirmed by Acer yet but since its specifications are the same with the other variant, the device is expected to sport a 5.5-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. It will also be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor along with a 3 GB of RAM. As for its internal storage capacity, the handset will have 32 GB.
It will also come with a 21-megapixel primary camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash and 4K recording. Its secondary camera will be 8 megapixels and fit for selfies and video calls. The device is expected to be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress which will take place next month.
