Adele Headlining The 2016 Glastonbury Festival on its Saturday Night

For those who missed the announcement made by the singer herself on Friday, "Hello" artist Adele will headline the Glastonbury Festival this year on its Saturday night. The singer–songwriter was performing live onstage to a full house at London's O2 Arena, one stop along her "Adele Live 2016" arena tour, when she broke the news.

"Who's going to Glastonbury this year?" the singer asked. "See you there. I'll be there. I'll be headlining on the Saturday night this year."

The Brit Awards winner later added on her Twitter account that she had been saving the news "for years." She completes the festival headliner list of three, her announcement at the gig a testament to her star power, the announcement being expected next month yet.

Not long after, it was confirmed on the official Twitter account of the Glastonbury Festival, "As @Adele just announced live on stage in London, she will headline Saturday night at this year's Glastonbury Festival!"

A tweet from the festival organizer, Emily Eavis, also appeared on the Glastonbury Festival's website, "What a great honour it is to have the wonderful Adele confirmed for this year's Saturday night headline spot on the Pyramid Stage!"

Other headliners already confirmed to perform at the annual five-day event are the rock bands Muse and Coldplay, which have earlier announced their participation. The former will be Friday night's headliner while the latter, which has headlined the festival three times previously, will do the closing act on Sunday night.

There seems to be good reception of Adele's being booked for the festival basing on some reactions on social media.

A Dave Gray tweets, "Adele wouldn't be my choice of headliner, but I'll bet she will be amazing," while a certain Haydn comments, "If you don't think Adele is the best possible booking Glastonbury could make, other than Led Zeppelin, you're mad."

Others were less enthusiastic like Hally Golightly who posts, "Adele and Coldplay headlining Glastonbury, so you can take your Mum I guess."

The showcasing of today's various contemporary performing arts will take place June 22 to 26, 2016. The Pyramid stage rises at Worthy Farm, near Pilton, Somerset.

Adele's latest album which released in 2015, "25," sold 19 million copies worldwide, with its single "Hello" busting the Billboard charts when it came out. Dubbed "Queen of the Brits" music scene, the "girl from Tottenham" took home four awards last month at the British equivalent of the Grammy's for top album ("25"), top single ("Hello"), British female solo artist of the year, and the Global Success Award.
