Adrien Broner Suspended From WBC for Racially Insensitive Comments Unless He Apologizes (VIDEO)
Adrien Broner has been suspended by the World Boxing Council Wednesday following his racially insensitive comments Saturday after soundly defeating Carlos Molina in Las Vegas. The WBC said that they would be willing to lift the suspension following a legitimate apology from the former two division world champion.
Adrien Broner shocked the world Saturday with his thoughtless comments in the post-fight interview with Jim Gray. In front of the entire audience and the thousands watching on Showtime, he said something offensive enough that the entire crowd booed him.
"But I'm still the 'can' man, anybody can get it," Broner boasted. "Afri-cans, I just beat the f--- out of a Mexi-can." Gray immediately scolded him and Broner behaved for the rest of the interview, but the damage was done. The WBC released their statement suspending Broner not long afterwards.

"The World Boxing Council holds human equality as its banner and will not accept a former WBC champion to make racially offensive statements," they stated. "Adrien Broner [should] either clarify what he meant with his words or to issue a public apology if those words were intended to be despective and offensive."
"Adrien Broner is hereby suspended from participating in any WBC sanctioned Championship and will be excluded from the WBC Ratings until the time he makes a public apology satisfactorily to the public of the world," the WBC added.
Broner tried to smooth over his comments Monday by telling TMZ he "loves all Mexicans" and saying that "Molina put up a hard fight," but he is still being excoriated on social media and by sports journalists. Indeed, it seems like the 24-year-old fighter may understand how much trouble he is in.
"Sometimes [Broner] says stuff without really thinking, because as I came out into the ring the first thing he said to me was 'I'm so sorry that I said what I said,'" Rick Reeno told BoxingScene.com.
This isn't the first time Broner has offended others with his vulgar behavior, though. He has released videos on social of him flushing $20 bills down the toilet and performing oral sex on exotic dancers in public. He also released a video of him receiving oral sex from two women. When one of the women found out from her father that she had been exposed on a sex tape, she filed a lawsuit against Broner in Clark County, Nevada court May 1.
