AMD Radeon RX 580, RX 570 Specs: Pictures of Alleged Engineering Samples Leaked Online

AMD is not just bent on making its mark in the high-end graphics card market with its upcoming Radeon RX Vega graphics cards, it will also be powering up its Radeon RX 400 series with the highly-awaited Radeon RX 500 series.

After a recent appearance in the Radeon Crimson 173.2 beta driver files, AMD's still-unannounced Radeon RX 500 series graphics processing units (GPUs) have been a hot topic recently when photos of its purported engineering samples were leaked online, Digital Trends reports.

The images reportedly show someone holding the upcoming Radeon RX 570 and RX 580 graphics cards.

Based on the alignment of the components on the leaked photos, the Radeon RX 570 could use the exact printed circuit board (PCB) as the one used by the RX 480 or 470 series. This particular board has a six-pin power connector, and should the photos prove to be real, it serves as a confirmation that the RX 570 will be running on the Polaris architecture.

As for the Radeon RX 580, the leaked photo of the card's engineering sample shows that its board number C940 comes with a new design and will ship with an eight-pin power connector. If the image is legitimate, these features will allow the RX 580 to achieve higher clock speeds but will also mean higher power consumption for the card.

The RX 580 and the RX 570, along with the Radeon RX 560, make up the Radeon RX 500 series graphics cards, which are expected to be available in retail stores this month. If this is indeed the case, it will be available at the same time NVIDIA will reportedly release overclock (OC) versions of the GTX 1060 and GTX 1080 cards in the market.

Shortly after the rumored release of the Radeon RX 500 series, the newer Radeon RX Vega graphics cards are expected to be made available in the GPU market. AMD's Vega lineup will likely be launched at COMPUTEX 2017 beginning on May 30, or at a special event before the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017 in June.

The AMD Radeon RX 500 series are rumored to launch on Thursday, April 18.
