'American Idol' Latest News: 'First Family Photo' of New Judges and Ryan Seacrest Released
"American Idol" is set to make a big comeback and has already released the show's first official photo featuring the new judges themselves.
It's been more than a year since "American Idol" bid farewell following the conclusion of its 15th and so-called "final" season. However, earlier this year, it was revealed that FremantleMedia was considering a revival of the hit show, and later on, ABC announced that it had acquired the rights to the series with a new season of "American Idol," which is set to air this year.
Now, it's looking like nothing is stopping "American Idol" as it makes a big television comeback. Just recently, the show released the first images for the new season featuring all the fresh-faced judges.
On Oct. 4, "American Idol" posted a photo via Twitter featuring music icon Lionel Richie, country star Luke Bryan and pop diva Katy Perry, who will all be serving as the show's newest judges. In the photo, they are joined by Ryan Seacrest, who had hosted all seasons of "American Idol." The image was captioned, "first family photo!"
"American Idol" already kicked off its first auditions on Monday, Oct. 3, and in an interview with Us Weekly, the judges talked about their judging styles.
All of the judges insisted there will be no nastiness on the show however, Richie promised to be brutally honest. "I think I'm going to change the word 'nasty' to 'brutally honest.' Because we don't have time to warm up here. We only have a couple of months to get this right and so if we had a couple of years to work with these acts, artists, fantastic. But I don't like the word 'nasty.' I think nasty only implies that we're going to hurt someone," the 68-year-old singer, Richie, said.
No premiere date has been confirmed for "American Idol" as the moment.
