Google released part of the source code for Android 5.0 or the L version to install on Nexus devices.

The preview version was only made available for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 Wi-Fi. Google has taken the first step towards getting this software running on other devices. The company might also begin offering preview images for more Nexus devices in the near future. This includes the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2012) Wi-Fi and LTE, Nexus 7 LTE and Nexus 10.

Those running the Android L Developers preview on the Nexus 7 and Nexus 5 can root the devices using a pre-existing method.
