Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Samsung Galaxy S4, S5 Release Date Finally Arrives
Another Samsung device is getting the Lollipop update — the Galaxy S4 LTE-A. Android's newest OS has just been released in Europe, particularly in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Russia. If you live in any of these countries right now, your Samsung Galaxy S4 can be updated through Kies right now, or you can wait for the OTA notification to show up.
In December, Samsung used a similar strategy by releasing the Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update to particular variants in Poland, Russia, and Malaysia. Once the update was found to be running smoothly and without any glitches, Samsung Galaxy S5 users in the U.K. received the Lollipop 5.0 update.
Recently, Verizon has released the update in the U.S., and other carriers are expected to follow shortly. Verizon posted documents on its website to reflect the rollout, with the update specifically for the VRU1BNLC model, and the Lollipop 5.0 update brings a lot of changes, fixes and enhancements for the Galaxy S5.
It's no surprise that the new OS is being rolled out to the S5, as it is currently the Korean company's flagship phone, but the Lollipop 5.0 update is expected to make its way to other Samsung devices very soon. According to GottaBeMobile, Samsung has begun updating its Galaxy Note 4 manuals to reflect the unreleased Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update. Last week, the company reportedly took it a step further and updated Galaxy Note 4 manuals for three variants including the SM-N910F, SM-N910C, and SM-N910H. The website claims that the Lollipop update will be available to these variants soon.
The Galaxy Note 3 Lollipop update is also expected to roll out within the month. Other devices such as the Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Note Edge, and Galaxy S5 Mini are also scheduled to have the Lollipop update soon.
