Android 8.0 Oreo Beta for Galaxy S8 and S8+ to Kick off Soon

The long wait for the Android Oreo update is finally coming to an end this week. According to reports, the beta will be rolled out anytime between Oct. 31 and Nov. 2, ahead of the official release of the update in early 2018.

When Google released Pixel 2, Samsung users felt a bit left out. Fortunately, a new report reveals that the Android Oreo update will finally arrive this week on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. Although Samsung has yet to confirm the report, the source has been known for its involvement in Samsung beta leaks in the Samsung sub-Reddit and XDA forums, so it won't hurt if Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ users check their phones in the coming days to see if it's true.

On Reddit, the Samsung+ app serves as Samsung users' official source of tips, offers, and programs sponsored by Samsung. Recently, while some Reddit users were reportedly decompiling the Android Package Kit (APK) for the app to disclose several mentions of the Oreo Beta Program, they stumbled upon an interesting text that said, "Experience Android 8,0 Oreo for Galaxy S8, S8 plus earlier than others by Galaxy Beta Program. First come, first served."

According to the Reddit user who discovered the references, the files also include an image showing the Samsung Beta logo next to a Galaxy S8, as well as a note that reveals that the only variants that will be eligible for the beta in the U.S. are T-Mobile, Sprint, and the unlocked models.

It was also revealed that Samsung will kick off the Android 8.0 Oreo beta program for Galaxy S8 in the United Kingdom, North America, and South Korea, while the second wave of the beta launch will include China, Germany, France, India, Poland, and Spain.

According to reports, Galaxy S8 and S8+ users who are located in the said countries will be able to join the Android 8.0 Oreo beta program through the Samsung Members application, which they can download for free from Galaxy Apps and Google Play Store.
