Anna Kendrick Teases First Photo as Santa's Daughter in 'Noelle'

Filming for the Christmas movie "Noelle" began in Vancouver this week. Anna Kendrick was seen ramping the streets dressed as Santa's daughter as she will play the titular role.

The Oscar-nominated actress shared a photo of herself in her "Noelle" costume on Instagram. She wore a green snowflake patterned dress and paired this with printed stockings and Christmas boots. Other photos showed that her dress came with a contrasting red Christmas coat.

"Noelle" will have Kendrick taking over the duties of her father, Santa Claus, on Christmas Eve since he retired. Her wayward brother, played by Bill Hader, doesn't want the job because it's such a big responsibility so Noelle had to step up so as not to ruin everyone's Christmas.

The film was originally called "Nicole" but the change in name seemed more apt for the holiday-themed movie. Disney tapped Marc Lawrence to write and direct the screenplay. Billy Eichner, Shirley MacLaine, and Julie Hagerty are also in the cast. "Noelle" won't be in theaters until 2019, though.

Kendrick excitedly spoke about "Noelle" while she sat as a guest on "Good Morning America" in August.

'I've always wanted to do a Christmas movie," she declared. "I'm playing Santa's daughter and Bill Hader is playing my brother and I'm really excited about that. I love a Christmas movie!'

This isn't the lone Christmas project for the "Pitch Perfect" star as she also reprised her role as the voice of Poppy in "Dreamworks Trolls Holiday" on NBC. The animated TV musical special, based on the 2016 film "Troll," will air on Friday, Nov. 24 at 8:30 p.m. EST and then it will stream on Netflix beginning Dec. 6.

Kendrick will also be seen on the big screen this December when "Pitch Perfect 3" premieres. She will be in the upcoming mommy blogger movie "A Simple Favor" with Blake Lively.
