Anne Hathaway Broadway Debut in 'Cabaret' Denied by Reps

Reports that Ann Hathaway is set to make her Broadway debut in the 1966 musical "Cabaret" are false according to reps for the actress.

Reports said earlier this week that Hathaway was soon to star on Broadway as Sally Bowles, the main character in "Cabaret." The musical focuses on Bowles, a 19-year-old cabaret performer and her relationship with American writer Cliff Bradshaw. The initial report claimed that Alan Cumming, who won a Tony Award for the same role in 1998, would play Bradshaw.

Despite Hathaway's recent success in winning Academy and Golden Globe Awards for her portrayal of Fatine in Tom Hooper's film production of "Les Miserables," she will not be appearing in a musical on Broadway.

"It's not true," a rep for the actress told E! News.

Instead, Hathaway's next focus may be on a sci-fi film alongside Mathew McConaughey. The film, "Interstellar," is one of Christopher Nolan's upcoming pictures and Hathaway is allegedly in talks with producers, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Fans of Hathaway were excited about the actress possibly appearing in the film.

"Yay, Annie! Loved her in TDNR. I may see the film just for her," Laer Carroll wrote on the Hollywood Reporter blog.

But while Hathaway may not be starring on Broadway, the revival of "Cabaret" may still be a possibility.

A second report in the New York Times said that "the Roundabout Theatre Company was planning another revival of the Kander and Ebb musical for 2014, with Cumming attached. Composer John Kander was said to confirm this."
