Apple iPod Touch 6th Gen Should Get Announcement Before Year Ends for 2015 Release

It's been two year since Apple announced anything about a new device for their iPod Touch line. The current flagship for the portable multimedia player, the iPod Touch 5th gen, is more than two years old and is in dire need of a successor, even if it still receives updates from Apple themselves. By all tech standards, the 5th generation iPod Touch is already nearing retirement age.

The probable reason Apple has been reluctant about announcing a new iPod Touch is because of the growing smartphone market. People have their iPhones now which can do what the iPod essentially does and see no reason to get it. The technology behind the smartphones has also become considerably more complex, allowing it to perform more than what the iPod Touch is capable of doing.

However, there is still a large iPod fan base who would rather carry a dedicated multimedia player than a full function iPhone.

At Apple's recent October press release, the company announced a number of product lines like the iPad Air 2, the iMac, the OS X Yosemite, and even the Mac Mini but no iPod Touch. There is still reason to believe that Apple designers might have an iPod Touch 6th gen on hand but it would be difficult to hear about it unless Apple reveals it themselves.

However, if the sixth generation iPod Touch isn't announced before the year ends, it will be unlikely that fans will be able to hear from it in 2015.
