'Aquaman' Updates: Leaked Footage Shows Mera Being Chased by Atlantean Soldiers

A footage taken during the filming of "Aquaman" in Australia has recently emerged online, and it has given rise to speculations as to why Mera (Amber Heard) is being chased by Atlantean soldiers.

It was in August when photos that were taken on the set of "Aquaman" leaked online, showing that Heard's Mera character is being chased by Atlantean soldiers at a rooftop. Recently, a video footage of the said scene emerged online, and it was revealed that it was not actually Heard who was in action but her stunt double Joanna Bennett instead.

Despite the leak of the said video footage, though, no one outside "Aquaman's" production can really tell for now its relevance to the story. However, it is believed that the chase has something to do with the movie's two main villains, Orm/Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson) and Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II).

To recall, in the animated direct-to-DVD movie "Justice League: Throne of Atlantis," the Queen of Atlantis, Atlanna (Nicole Kidman in the "Aquaman" movie), tasked Mera to bring back her son with a human, Arthur Curry/ Aquaman to bridge the gap between the humans and the Atlanteans after the latter demands for a war against those living on the surface due to the abuses they do to the seas. However, as Orm wants to rule Atlantis, he knows he has to get rid of his half-brother, Aquaman, by manipulating a war with the help of Black Manta.

Could the leaked video footage be in relation to Ocean Master and Black Manta's attempt to find Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa) in the upcoming live-action movie? Fans can only speculate for now.

Meanwhile, reports claim that "Aquaman" is set to wrap up its production this Oct. 20, or 14 months ahead of its slated arrival in the theaters.

"Aquaman" is scheduled for a December 2018 release.
