Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag beat out Battlefield 4 in opening week sales, but both sold less opening copies than their predecessors in the U.K. Despite the lower numbers this time around, both games managed to capture the top two spots in game sales.

An Assassin's Creed movie is coming to theaters on Aug. 7 2015. The Hollywood Reporter made the claim after previous reports had the movie linked for May 22 2015.

Current Hollywood leading man, Michael Fassbender, is linked to play the main role of Desmond Miles who throughout the games encompasses ancestor characters, Altair, Ezio, and Connor. Fassbender is most known for his roles as Magneto in X-Men and as the robot David, in Prometheus.

The script is being written by Scott Frank, who has previously penned The Wolverine, Minority Report, and Marley & Me among other films and shows.
