'Battlefield 4 Legacy Operations' DLC: Arriving Holiday 2015, Is Bringing Back Dragon Valley Map
The first-person shooter video game "Battlefield 4" is a two-year-old game that is still receiving free downloadable content to date. Since the game's release in 2013, it has received eight DLC packs, five of which were initially made available for premium game members. Eventually, these DLC packs were made available at no extra cost after support for premium membership ended. According to a report in Eurogamer, game developer DICE announced that the upcoming DLC "Legacy Operations" is bringing with it "one of the game's best maps," Dragon Valley.
Dubbed Dragon Valley 2015, it is re-imagined version of the original map, which first appeared in "Battlefield 2." According to the Battlelog, the game's blog, among the maps that DICE chose to bring back is Dragon Valley after they conducted a poll among gamers which resulted in a majority vote to bring the favorite map back.
The 2015 version of the map, however, brings with it many changes. It is still the same large vehicle map except for a few modern twists brought on by new technologies. Battlelog said that among the first things they changed was "terrain verticality" so that it really looks and feels like the player is in a real life Chinese river valley. There is also the presence of a "dynamic cloud layer" above the valley which adds difficulty and challenge to the game. Above the clouds, however, aerial firefights are said to be more spectacular with this new addition.
The original map had a lot of destroyable and repairable bridges, and according to DICE, these features were retained in the 2015 edition of the map.
"Legacy Operations" will be arriving for the current generation console editions and the PC later this year. No specific date has been announced by EA yet. The DLC will be released alongside the game's Holiday Update. Unfortunately, the DLC is not coming for older generation consoles.
As of May 2014, "Battlefield 4" has sold over 7 million copies worldwide since its release in the last quarter of 2013.
