Bette Midler Disses Upcoming 'Hocus Pocus' TV Remake

Bette Midler is not happy with the upcoming "Hocus Pocus" remake for TV.

The actress, who played Winifred Sanderson in the iconic Disney film, recently expressed her thoughts about the "Hocus Pocus" revival. Midler told PEOPLE she does not expect the TV movie to be of high quality once it officially debuts.

"I know it's cheap. It's going to be cheap!" Midler stated at the New York Restoration Project's Hulaween party on Monday, in which she served as host. As for her character, Midler said it will be tough to find someone else who will take on the role of lead witch Winifred.

She added, "I'm not sure what they're going to do with my character. My character is very, very broad and I don't know who they're going to find to play that."

The new project from Disney Channel is still under development with David Kirschner, the 1993 film's original producer and new writer Scarlett Lacey. Kenny Ortega, the film's director, will not be involved with the reboot.

Midler's onscreen sisters and fellow stars Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker have already expressed interest in joining a remake of the Halloween film. However, the singer-songwriter said she will not be on board any "Hocus Pocus" project in the future.

"No, no, no!" Midler responded when asked about a possible cameo.

Midler arrived at her annual Halloween party sporting a bright blonde wig of flowers and a green floral pantsuit. "Gardens of earthly delights" was the night's theme, which was matched inside the venue. The hosts also wore flower crowns and fairy lights during the event.

The actress' "Hello Dolly" co-star David Hyde Pierce also attended the celebration and joined her in a parody rendition of "Hello Dollars." In the song's chorus, they thanked all the foundation's longtime donors by name.
