'Better Call Saul' Season 2 Cast News: Ed Begley Jr. Joins Cast As 'Authority Figure,' Showrunner Reveals
With its debut episode just a few weeks away, speculations about the second season of AMC's hit "Breaking Bad" spinoff, "Better Call Saul," are emerging. Previous reports indicate that a "Breaking Bad" character from the cult favorite's first season will make an appearance on "Better Call Saul" while Aaron Paul has recently revealed that he is more than willing to do a cameo in the spinoff series.
Now, fans of the show finally have confirmation of at least one casting for "Better Call Saul" Season 2. According to Entertainment Weekly, "Better Call Saul" will introduce a new character called Clifford in its second season. The role will be played by Ed Begley Jr., who is popularly known for his role as Dr. Victor Ehrlich in the 1980s medical drama "St. Elsewhere."
According to the show's co-creator and executive producer Peter Gould, the six-time Emmy nominee will play an "authority figure who has the power to make many of Jimmy's dreams come true, if Jimmy can only play ball."

"When you first meet him, he is highly avuncular and somebody whom you'd like to spend time with and is a very sweet guy," the "Better Call Saul" showrunner revealed. "But you wouldn't want to cross him, let's put it that way."
Begley, who is a veteran film actor, has appeared in such films as "For Your Consideration" (2006), "Pineapple Express" (2008), "Whatever Works" (2009), and "What's Your Number?" (2011). He has also played a variety of roles for a long list of TV shows, including "Portlandia," "Arrested Development," "The Office," "Rules of Engagement," "CSI:Miami," "Monk," "Star Trek: Voyager," and "3rd Rock From The Sun."
Clifford will make his first appearance in the Season 2 premiere of "Better Call Saul."
The second season of "Better Call Saul" premieres Monday, Feb. 15, on AMC.
