'Beyond Good and Evil 2' Update: Sequel Still In Production
Action-adventure video game "Beyond Good and Evil" is almost 13 years old since it was released by Ubisoft in 2003. But until now, many are still wondering if the game is ever going to get a sequel. Fortunately for the fans, it's been confirmed by the creator himself, Michel Ancel, that "Beyond Good and Evil 2" is still in production.
According to a report by Game Spot, Ancel revealed the good news during the final episode of the second season of "Dev's Play," which is a series presented by Tim Schafer and Greg Rice from Double Fine. The episode featured the three of them playing through the original "Beyond Good and Evil" game.
IGN noted that Ancel did not directly confirm nor deny the existence of the part two of the game but when Schafer asked him about the status of the sequel, he responded that it is still being worked on. Schafer also told him that he's excited to play it. Ancel answered, "That's the problem, [we have] no choice. [Beyond Good & Evil 2] has to be great. When we started [Beyond Good and Evil] there was not that much pressure."
Later on, Ancel admitted that he is having a hard time making another "Beyond Good and Evil" game because he doesn't like making the same kind of game two times. He said that he always wants to create something different.
Rice also asked him why he thinks the original has such a fanbase, that after all these years, many are still waiting for the game. Ancel answered that it's the "passion and energy" that came along with it.
"I think it's that the time and the energy we spent on Beyond Good and Evil is still there. There's still something about it," said Ancel.
"Beyond Good and Evil 2" was first announced in 2008. During that time, it was revealed that the game was already in preproduction stage. The last confirmation from Ubisoft about the game still being in development was in 2014. They released a new concept art of Jade, the protagonist of the game.
Until now, there's still no expected date of release but sources say that Ubisoft confirmed the game coming to "next-gen" platforms.
